Third Youth Research Dialogue on 8 November

Livestream available!

Our third Youth Research Dialogue put the topic of youth participation and active citizenship in the focus. Helmut Fennes from the RAY transnational research team discussed findings from our RAY research project on participation and citizenship education and learning in the European youth programmes as well as insights into how European Youth Programmes foster the development of participation and citizenship practice.

Our two guest speakers addressed youth participation and its forms in a wider context (also outside the programmes). Natalia Wächter (professor in Social Pedagogy at the University of Graz, Austria) talked about self-conceptions of young activists in the Fridays for Future movement. Kari Saari (researcher in Juvenia –Youth Research and Development Centre in South-Eastern University of Applied Sciences, Finland) spoke about his research findings on youth participation, civic activism and social movements (speaker details are below).

This was followed by a lively dialogue between the three researchers, moderated by Tomi Kiilakoski. A thank you also to Domagoj Morić who is responsible for the digital facilitation & visuals.
