Youth Research Dialogue

Competences for youth work, with a special focus on mental health

Our last Youth Research Dialogue before the summer break (20 June) dealt with the topic of competences for youth work, with a special focus on mental health.

Johannes from the RAY transnational research team discussed perspectives from our ongoing research project on competence development for youth work and training in the European Youth Programmes (RAY COMP). He analysed first findings and drew connections to mental health competences in youth work.

Elina Marjamäki, our guest speaker, brought in a practical perspective (and good practices) on mental health, skills and needs for youth workers and youth leaders. She has been working for MIELI Mental Health Finland since 2007. Her work in the Youth Work Competence Center focuses on training youth workers in mental health promotion of young people. Her expertise brought a valuable contribution to this dialogue.

Moderation was done by Tomi Kiilakoski and digital facilitation by Domagoj Morić.
